The morning sun filtered through the curtains of Nyrah's room, casting soft rays. She stirred awake, the remnants of dreams still clinging to her consciousness. But as she blinked her eyes open, the image that lingered was not that of her beloved novels but of Vishal's warm smile, a beacon of light in her otherwise muted existence.
With a sigh, she shook her head, pushing aside the thoughts that threatened to consume her. Today was a new day—a chance to focus on her studies and perhaps find a moment of solace in the pages of a book. She dressed quickly, her mind racing with the possibilities that the day might hold. She was wearing a beautiful pink sleeveless kurti paired with jeans looking very beautiful like an angel and paired with silver oxidised earrings with minimal makeup
As she stepped into the college courtyard, She spotted Kaira and Harshith near the entrance, animatedly discussing their plans for the weekend. But all Nyrah could think about was whether she would see Vishal again. The thought made her stomach flutter with both excitement and trepidation.
“Hey! There you are!” Kaira called out, waving her over. “We were just talking about you. Are you ready for another day of lectures?By the way you are looking so beautiful. Whom did you get ready for? Let me guess,Is it Vishal? "
"There is nothing as such ,you are thinking a lot. I got ready like every other day " Nyrah replied
“Speaking of which,” Harshith interjected, “Vishal mentioned he might stop by the library later. You should totally talk to him again!”
Nyrah’s heart raced at the mention of his name. “Oh, really? I didn’t know that.” Her voice came out softer than she intended, and Kaira shot her a knowing look.
“You like him, don’t you?” Kaira teased, nudging her playfully. “You should just go for it! What’s the worst that could happen?”
Nyrah rolled her eyes, trying to mask her embarrassment. “It’s not like that.
Kaira raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.Whatever you say, Ms. Book Lover.”
The morning classes dragged on, each lecture punctuated by Nyrah’s distracted thoughts. She found herself doodling in her notebook. By the time the bell rang, signaling the end of class, she was both anxious and eager for the library.
As she made her way to the library, her heart raced with anticipation. The vast expanse of bookshelves felt like a refuge, yet today, her focus was on more than just the tomes surrounding her. She spotted Vishal at a table, deep in conversation with Veer. Her breath caught in her throat.
“Hey, Nyrah!” Vishal’s voice broke through her thoughts, and she felt her cheeks flush as he waved her over.
“Hi! I didn’t know you’d be here,” she replied, trying to sound casual despite the quickening of her pulse.
“Yeah, just catching up on some readings. You’re welcome to join us, and you are looking beautiful in this pink kurti. It suits you a lot".he said, and gesturing to the empty seat across from him.
"Thabk you Vishal" Nyrah replied as she was hiding her blushing face.
As she settled in, Nyrah felt a mix of exhilaration and nervousness. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and she found herself laughing at Vishal’s jokes, feeling more at ease with every passing moment. But as the laughter faded, a sudden weight settled in the air; a thought she couldn’t shake.
“Nyrah, are you okay?” Vishal asked, concern etched on his face. “You seem a bit distant.”
She hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. “I guess I’m just… still processing everything. It’s been a while since I’ve made new friends.”
Vishal nodded, his expression softening. “I get that. It can be tough, but you’re doing great. You have a good vibe about you.”
The sincerity in his voice made her heart flutter again. They talked for a while longer, and Nyrah found herself opening up about her passion for psychology and her love for novels. Vishal listened intently, nodding in understanding.
As they wrapped up their study session, Vishal leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. “You know, there’s a psychology event this weekend. I think it’d be fun if we went together. Just as friends, of course,” he added quickly, a hint of mischief in his eyes.
“Friends,” she echoed, the word feeling comforting. “Sure, I’d like that.”
As they exchanged numbers and made tentative plans, Nyrah felt a sense of exhilaration mixed with anxiety. This new connection with Vishal was exciting, but it also stirred something deep within her—a memory of her past that she had tried to bury.
Later that evening, as she lay in bed, the weight of her father’s shadows loomed larger than ever. The memories of her childhood—of her mother’s absence and her father’s harshness—washed over her in waves. She wondered if she was ready to let someone in, to share her heart’s burdens with someone as bright as Vishal.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a message. It was Vishal, sending a simple smiley face and a reminder about the event. Nyrah smiled but shook her head as the shadows of her past were not so easily dismissed. With every new connection she forged, the ghost of her father’s anger threatened to resurface. As she drifted off to sleep, Nyrah knew that she was standing on the precipice of change, but she was afraid thinking if had the courage to embrace a new relation or not.
The next day promised more than just classes and books; it was a whisper of new beginnings, and Nyrah couldn’t help but wonder what awaited her. Little did she know, the path ahead would be fraught with challenges that would test her resolve, friendships, and the fragile walls she had built around her heart.
As the night deepened, so did her thoughts, swirling with hope and trepidation. What would tomorrow hold?
